Applying to our Program
Application deadlines and requirements are set by the University and the College of Engineering. Students must first be accepted to UConn; see the admissions website. Major Programs
The department offers four distinct undergraduate major programs:
- The Computer Science and Engineering program emphasizes breadth, covering fundamental topics in both computer engineering and computer science.
- The Computer Science program emphasizes depth in computer science, covering fundamental topics in the theory, principles, and practices of computing.
- The Computer Engineering program emphasizes depth in computer engineering focusing on the design and fabrication of computing devices.
- The Data Science and Engineering program emphasizes computing, engineering, and analytics competencies needed for designing and building systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data at scale.
The department also offers a 5-year Integrated Bachelor’s and Master of Science program in CS, CSE, CompE, and DSE, more info on this program can be found here.
Minor Programs
The department also offers three minors in computing: the Computer Science Minor, Information Assurance Minor and the Information Technology Minor.
Accreditation
The Computer Science and Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission and the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Computer Science programs is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Computer Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
Open House
Open House is held twice during the Fall Semester and once during Spring semester.

Senior Design Projects
The Computer Science & Engineering Senior Design Project is a dynamic, year-long course where student teams tackle real-life problems in corporate settings. Guided by faculty advisors, these 3-6 member teams employ modern technologies and methodologies to design, develop, and document innovative software solutions. This capstone project is a pivotal part of the curriculum, offering hands-on experience that integrates all the skills and knowledge students have acquired.
