David Etim: Ph.D. Candidate, Recipient of 2016 NNSA Graduate Fellowship

David Etim, a CSE doctoral student, was recently awarded a National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Fellowship.  The full-time salaried fellowship program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy is for highly motivated graduate-level students interested in a career in nuclear security. As reported by UConn Today, David has a strong interest in data analytics as well as development of applications that utilize the extraction of information from various documents. The large volume of data required to run and maintain a nuclear plant can be leveraged through big data analysis in support of integrated data management and analytics to diagnosis problems.

David’s program advisor for the last three years, Professor Steven Demurjian, states “David is very motivated to succeed and has experience working for other national agencies including NASA. We look forward to hearing about his experience once he returns to UConn to complete his Ph.D. work.”
