Summary:
A student intern perusing a degree in software engineering or electrical engineering with experience working with microprocessors and microcontrollers.
Intern will assist engineers in design, implementation, and debugging of firmware for laboratory equipment.
Design and implementation will involve electro-mechanical systems and motion control systems.
Will work with a team of engineers of all disciplines as well as scientists (physicists and chemists)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designs and develops firmware applications and drivers.
- Participates in product architecture, design, and development.
- Investigates and debugs complex system problems and drives engineering solutions to improve or correct product or process issues.
Job Requirements:
- Perusing a degree in software engineering or electrical engineering with emphasis on embedded development. i.e. Arduino, Raspberry PI, or embedded evaluation platforms.
- Experience with modern development tools: (Eclipse, Git, GCC, Gnu tools)
- Demonstrate understanding of Real Time Operating Systems.
- Experience with communication interfaces (USB, RS232, SPI, I2C).
- Experience with motion control, sensors, motors, encoders, vision systems a big plus.
- Experience in C++. Knowledge of .Net and Python a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of good software design practices
- Positive attitude, high energy, leadership, project management and troubleshooting skills
- Hands on engineer with good communication (written and oral) skills and likes to solve problems and work issues on the production floor as well as in the engineering lab

This is a summer 2019 opportunity and we offer a modest hourly rate ($15-18/hour) but more importantly we offer exposure to cutting edge industry tools/designs and hands on experience.
