Dr. Fei Wang was appointed as an Action Editor to the Editorial Board of The Journal of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery based on his extensive knowledge and research accomplishments in the field of Data Mining. The Editorial Board is a very honorable position where the board member is nominated by the current Editorial Board and an election is held among all nominees. The Journal of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery is one of the most prestigious journals in the field. Its 2014 impact factor was 1.987 as reported by the Journal Citation Report from Thomson Reuters. According to Google Scholar, its impact is ranked 9th in the entire data mining and analysis category.
Among his other achievements, Professor Wang co-authored the paper “From Micro to Macro: Uncovering and Predicting Information Cascading Process with Behavioral Dynamics” that recently won the “Best Student Paper Award” at the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM) which is a renowned conference in Data Mining. This year ICDM received 807 submissions, and only 68 regular papers were accepted, with an acceptance rate of 8.4%. The conference was held in Atlantic City and attracted around 700 participants.
