Professor Laurent Michel awarded ACP Research Excellence Award

Congratulations to Professor Laurent Michel for being the 13th recipient of the coveted Association for Constraint Programming Research Excellence Award!

Professor Laurent Michel receiving the ACP research excellence award in 2025!

The ACP Award for Research Excellence was established by the Executive Committee of the Association for Constraint Programming ten years after the first Constraint Programming (CP) conference to honor the most influential people in the field. Specifically, the award “celebrates those CP researchers who have made exceptional and very influential research contributions to CP with their work.” This year’s award committee recognized Professor Laurent Michel’s foundational and sustained contributions to Constraint Programming. He has done pioneering research in the area of Constraint-Based Local Search and has had an outstanding role in the design of a large number of CP systems that incorporate innovative techniques such as decision diagram compilation and state-based inference, thereby making CP technology available to a large community of researchers and practitioners, influencing the design of future CP systems, and educating the next generation of CP researchers. His applied research has also shown that CP can be successful in many different areas such as cybersecurity and voting systems.
