UConn Establishes Synchrony Financial Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity

We are delighted to announce that UConn, with the investment of $2.2 million over the next five years from Synchrony Financial, is establishing the Synchrony Financial Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity.  Through its partnership with UConn, Synchrony Financial will provide an endowment for a Synchrony Financial Chair in Cybersecurity to advance education and research in cryptography, security and software engineering, security architectures, advance persistence threat, early attack detection and attribution using artificial intelligence and deep learning method for security-related applications, or closely related and emerging fields.

“We are thrilled to establish a world-class program in one of the fastest growing fields in technology with Synchrony Financial,” said Kazem Kazerounian, dean of the School of Engineering. “The program builds on the success of the Engineering School, which celebrates its centennial this year, and allows us to provide robust opportunities for our students looking to pursue a career in cybersecurity.”
