Description:
We have an immediate opening for a part-time position (8-10 hours per week, flexible scheduling) for an undergraduate web development assistant. Rising Sophomore or Junior preferred.
The Web Development Assistant helps design and develop web sites and web applications as a member of Greenhouse Studios (a highly-collaborative research unit and design studio). They work with our teams to design and implement layouts and features as well as maintain and manage content for a variety of web-based projects.
Responsibilities:
- Understands project objectives, gathers project requirements, and designs web-based solutions to accomplish objectives.
- Plans, designs and develops web-based solutions, including web sites and web applications.
- Collaborates with a cross-functional team of designers, copywriters and others.
- Plans and conducts testing and debugging of applications and sites.
- Researches and stays apprised of emerging technologies, techniques and trends in the web development industry.
- Supports existing department web sites and applications.
- Performs related duties as required.

Required:
- Team player with desire to collaborate
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Basic web development using HTML/CSS
- Experience with WordPress or aptitude/willingness to learn
- Familiarity with responsive web design principles
- Skills in time-management and prioritizing tasks
- Ability to “think on your feet” and manage overlapping tasks efficiently & effectively
Preferred:
- Comfortability with Javascript programming or aptitude/willingness to learn
- Experience with node/npm
- Experience with web frameworks (Vue, React or Angular)
- Experience customizing web Content Management Systems (CMS), including WordPress, Omeka
- Experience with version control systems, especially git
- Interest in web design and user experience best practices
